Again, found on BoingBoing, Harvey Danger has put their latest album online for free to foster promotion of their music and their band.

The download is actually quite in-depth - it includes a full web-page with links to everyone involved, a full track listing, their reasoning and photos of their recording session. Nice touch!

Mostly posted for stop_him, but I figured I'd post it here anyway because it's a pretty cool album and the works are 'fan-funded'. The guy puts out his stuff for free download and offers to post his favorite remixes on his site. The publicity generated around the site seems to be quite good and has brought a lot of listeners, from what I can tell. His site was even 'boingboing'-ed recently, adding a possible readership of 1M+. O_O
